Freelance Exchange Profile Fraud

The post is published at the request of the habrechelo nifus , who recently suffered significant karmic losses.

The author tells how he encountered a sly attempt to deceive users of the exchange of free performers - weblancer.net. Under the cut reveals the essence and scheme of cheating. So, here is his story.

I have been working as a freelancer for a long time on one of the well-known Russian-language sites. I used to think that the more contact information is indicated in the profile, the easier it is for a potential client to make a choice in my favor. The more work I did, the more this conviction created problems for me.
People constantly knocked on ICQ, asked questions, and often not at all in my profile. In order to optimize the workflow, I completely deleted my personal data (ICQ, Skype, mobile phone).
')
And today I receive a personal message from an unknown customer with questions on the project, he writes about some agreements, conversations, money. It turns out that they knocked on my behalf on him, gave me a link to my profile, and, of course, demanded an advance payment, offered to make a deal to bypass the service. I found a full copy of my data for this ICQ number: name, city, age, signature, even spelling errors - everything is the same.

This is an insignificant action - the removal of contact information gives fraudsters a serious loophole. Particularly alarming is the fact that my account is not allocated with high ratings, nor with a large number of reviews, nor works - this is the most common mediocre profile, which may indicate that the guys are on the line.

During the crisis, the phrase “Laziness to live by your own work, when you can earn on someone else's stupidity” is becoming increasingly relevant.
Be carefull!
