NOMOBILE.RU at MWC-2010. Day zero and day one. How it was

Mobile World Congress 2010 opened in Barcelona today - an event that no one interested in mobile technology can miss. And as an IT-journalist, and even more so. Three such technophilists immediately went to Spain from Nomobile.ru: chief editor Nikolay turubar Turubar, his deputy Alexei goncharow Goncharov and our cameraman Andrei Glukhov.

It all started yesterday - in the press day. Sony Ericsson showed a Vivaz pro slider and two smaller versions of the X10 smartphone: the X10 Mini and the X10 Mini pro. Neither of them impressed Alexey Goncharov: “Vivaz Pro is generally by. It opens tightly, inside the rather dull Symbian S60 fifth edition. The little ones that on Android - X10 mini and mini pro - are funny, but look pretty pretty. Stubs Obviously, the SE is trying to set a certain trend, but it is unlikely that it will succeed. Although I note that the OS on the stubs tosses quickly. Both Timescape and Mediascape add-ons do not slow down, even though all of them are three-dimensional. And the mini pro has a surprisingly comfortable QWERTY keyboard. ”



And Koreans from Samsung demonstrated a smartphone called Wave, which runs on the Bada operating system. This is what Nikolai Turubar thinks about him: “As far as I remember, Samsung for the first time issues its main product on Day Zero. Samsung Wave, from which the exhibition unofficially began, is still the main blockbuster. At the press conference, Samsung had nowhere to fall, the speakers crumbled in compliments of the new Bada platform, on which Wave works, and predicted a bright future for the Samsung Apps online app store. Personally, I liked the phone moderately: it is clear that fast, trendy and with all the social features, but still the charisma that we have, say HTC HD2 (and this is not the most charismatic smart!), I did not find. Leshki Goncharov had time to play with him back in Moscow, so the first hands-on site already exists . In general, Koreans announce several models at the Congress at once, but on Day Zero they only talked about Wave: they rebuilt. ”



The first day of the exhibition was marked by the announcement of the MeeGo mobile platform from Nokia and Intel. The list of devices that will work on it includes communicators, netbooks, tablets, smartphones, and various entertainment gadgets. Stuck nice. To have a software that will work on a laptop and on the phone is very convenient. The platform will be open, and the first gadgets based on it will appear this year.

Then there was a walk through the stands. Acer showed a brood of interesting smartphones. Three of the most remarkable - androids, and all will soon appear in Russia: the updated Liquid e, beTouch E400 and beTouch E110. The youngest, according to reliable sources, will cost only 9,000 rubles.



At the NVIDIA booth, two interesting tablet PCs were discovered - Compal and Foxconn N928:





Motorola released a smartphone called Quench, but it did not come out with OSes - Android is only version 1.6. Touchscreen 3.1-inch display, 5.1-megapixel camera, support for Adobe Flash Lite and, of course, MOTOBLUR.



Finally, Simba has also been updated - they announced Symbian ^ 3. They promise support for three-dimensional graphics, fourth-generation high-speed networks, MultiTouch, HDMI and multitasking. And they offer this demo video:



And then everyone rushed to the presentation of Steve Ballmer. There were so many who wished that far from all were placed in the hall. Everyone who was unlucky had to be placed outside and be content with live broadcast on a large TV:



The head of all Microsoft showed Windows Phone and the latest Windows 7 Series mobile OS. We are waiting for a touchscreen smartphone with multitouch support, capable of interacting with Xbox LIVE and Zune. There will be a separate button for quick access to the Microsoft Bing search engine. But support for Flash and multitasking will not. Programs and applications will have to be installed through the Microsoft store. However, the working sample, it seems, does not even exist yet, so everything can change. Sales are going to start only at the end of the year, and before it is still hoo what time.
