Until Friday inclusive, Barcelona hosts
Mobile World Congress 2010 - one of the largest events dedicated to mobile devices and mobile communications.
Year after year at the conference there are a lot of various announcements - it was not without them this time too. The news of the day - Intel and Nokia combine their Moblin and Maemo platforms, a common good for.
Rumors about the joint work of companies on the new platform were still in the summer, but now both Linux-shaped operating systems will officially turn into a single platform called
MeeGo . While it is known that the new platform will be managed by the non-profit organization Linux Foundation, and the first release should be expected in the second quarter of this year. Apparently, immediately after the release of the new OS, the world will be presented with new products working on it - such types of devices as tablet computers, smartphones, netbooks,
CarPC and game consoles. Applications for MeeGo will be developed with Qt and distributed in the Nokia Ovi Store and Intel AppUp Store app stores.

Here is how Kamil Isaev, who was recently
appointed director of research and development at Intel in Russia, commented on this situation:
I think this event is evidence that Intel is serious about creating platforms and solutions aimed at the end user. In such decisions, which we talked about in a recent interview, the program part plays a crucial role. In addition, as an employee of the Software & Services Group, I believe that this is a very good time to join the SSG, because it is this group in Intel that will in some sense lead in future developments.
If you wish, you can watch a
video of the MeeGo presentation - naturally, in English.
