Nokia and Intel at the MWC 2010 exhibition announced their joint efforts to create and promote an operating system for mobile devices. The new project will be called MeeGo and will combine the strengths of Moblin and Maemo. Judging by the press release from Moblin, the build system and the base part of the system will be taken. An interface, API and development tools will be taken from Maemo. Application development will be based on Qt as planned in Maemo 6. Nokia will have the Ovi Store at the Intel AppUpSM Center as software directories. The first release is scheduled for the second quarter of this year.
