The Council on Mass Communications under the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media is preparing a bill designed to fight plagiarism and copy-paste on the Internet, Vedomosti reports.
The bill places emphasis on the fight against plagiarism of news, which is not surprising, since its initiator is RIA Novosti . Experts speak negatively about this bill: in addition to the fact that the very idea of ​​copyright on news is dubious, the project itself is poorly developed from a legal point of view.

Let now the bill is rather weak, but the fact that it arose, in my opinion, speaks of a positive trend. The fact that contact is established between government agencies and Internet companies, which in the future will allow to resolve some of the problems of the RuNet, to which no doubt copy-paste belongs. I hope that the bill will be finalized so that it reflects not only the interests of news agencies, but also all content producers.
“Reproduction of messages or their fragments” by media by other sites without reference to the original source, the authors of the amendments suggest to consider it as unfair competition, for which administrative punishment is prescribed.
