We all know how hard karma is earned in most cases. Also, we are all humans and can blurt out something wrong. Such an inappropriate comment can lead to a very strong minus. So, it is impossible to say that a person does not deserve a decrease in this case, but the habraeffekt is such a habraeffect, and in the worst cases, you can immediately fly into the minus even from a fairly strong plus.
The idea is to limit the decrease in the karma of each user per day to a certain value. There are already several options.
- For karma more than 5 per day, you can lose no more than 80% of karma. This is due to the fact that limiting the minus position should not introduce “permissiveness” to the ranks of people with very large karma. For example, to avoid the situation of "advanced troll", which swings, and then trolls to the fullest.
- For karma less than 5 in a day you can lose no more than 10 points of karma. As far as I understand, there is no ranking with negative karma, respectively, and 10 points are enough to instantly cool the person deserving it.
As you can see, in the first case, a “warning shot” will work so to say, and the next day, when the person has emotions, he will analyze the situation, and if karma is expensive, he will continue to behave cautiously. At the same time, the loss of 80% is from +100 to +20, which is quite noticeable.
In the second case, the trolley trap works, but if the response is false, then there is still a chance to get out of the minus. If not false, then repeated minuses are still inevitable and the question of the day will not change the situation much.

PS The basis for the post was a user profile, in which I saw up to February 15th zahabrennye posts in thematic blogs with a karma of -70 at the moment (February 17th has just begun).
