Make the Internet better, save the lemur. Did you know that Firefox 3.6 is given the codename Namoroka?Support Namoroka Park in Madagascar , home to some of the cutest lemurs in the world. ')
At Mozilla, we create a healthy community ecosystem that promotes the ability to freely access, modify, and distribute free software and creative works. These ecosystems create common digital benefits;a common space, shared resources, or a common network of ideas, applications, and products that are free to use.
Like the park, which is an important ecosystem for cooperation, recreation, preservation and communication, Mozilla and other open software groups have adopted the values of the park and used them as inspiration for the Internet. It is no surprise that for some time Mozilla has named Firefox versions after parks. The newest release of Firefox is called Namoroka in honor of a park in the northwestern part of Madagascar .
Known for its unique topography, Namoroka is full of caves, canyons and natural pools.Namoroka is also home to eight species of lemurs. Here, in Mozilla, we love tailed and fluffy creatures, so we decided to celebrate the release of Firefox 3.6 with the support of lemurs in Namoroka and throughout Madagascar.
Our goal is $ 10,000 to support the lemurs of Madagascar. This money will be used to help Madgascar Fauna Group (MFG) achieve its mission of preserving the Malagasy lemurs and their habitats by connecting them to the powerful tools of community and collaboration that exist on the Internet. This gift will also help the MFG's habitat protection programs for lemurs, stop illegal lemurs, and through educational programs that help Madagascar students finish school by giving them employment opportunities instead of illegal fishing and logging.
