The Nizhny Novgorod Linux Users Group decided to follow a general example and begin a series of meetings with school teachers. The main goal will be a story about the Free Software Package, answers to questions about the use of Free Software in the educational process and informing teachers about the availability of methodological material on open source software.
This Saturday,
representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod Group of Linux Users came to the teachers of 128 schools.
We were invited by a computer science teacher after attending a
TVWS seminar at the Nizhny Novgorod RadioTechnical College.
When communicating with the school principal and head teachers, questions were mainly related to the legal side of using the Free Software Package and the possibility of using Linux distributions other than AltLinux.

The teachers, on the other hand, were mainly interested in the Linux application programs and the analogues of the applications they use in the educational process. The lively discussion was caused by the presentation of the book "Blender Basics 3rd Edition". It turned out that students of 128 schools a few years ago actively participated in 3D modeling competitions held at NSTU.

But in the absence of suitable technology for running 3DMax and difficulties with acquiring licenses, the practice of teaching three-dimensional modeling has come to naught. Teachers have expressed a desire to listen to a course on 3D modeling and animation in Blender and want to introduce the material of the book into the educational process of their school.
We will try to continue the series of meetings with teachers of schools in Nizhny Novgorod.
