Gran Paradiso goes to start

The first alpha version of Firefox 3.0 (codename Gran Paradiso) was born. Its interface is still no different from the second version, and the user will not see the new functions. The main goal of the first alpha is to test the new version of the engine running the browser, Gecko 1.9. However, the new version no longer supports such operating systems as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and OS X 10.2.
The developers say that there will be several alpha versions and plan to release them every 6-8 weeks. Based on these data, we can say that the final version of Firefox 3.0 will appear later than planned (March 2007).
