News from IE Team after joining SVG WG

image In this post, I want to share some examples of the progress that has taken place since we recently joined the SVG working group . Other team members ( Mozilla, Apple, Opera and others ) welcomed us warmly. I am optimistic about the current direction of the development of SVG, as well as the future potential, and I think that SVG will help make the web better . We want the specification to be clear, consistent and predictable for the developer. We solve ambiguities like these: Pointer events and clip-paths , CSS selectors and developers, so that developers can write code once and that would work equally in all browsers.

I have to admit, at first it was a little reluctant to receive a dozen recommendations and clarifications on ambiguities ( see the open discussion topics of the SVG working group ), but the positive effect of this was simply enormous. Of course, we are not the only participants raising these issues, but we are happy to participate in this. SVG has a bright future.

In addition, Microsoft hopes to hold the next in-person meeting of the SVG working group in Brussels in May this year.

A special thanks to the SVG working group for their warm welcome and the overall goal of creating a specification that promotes the standards on which the Internet graphics are based.

(From the translator: most likely we will learn many plans for the future of IE at the MIX 10 conference, which will be held March 15-17. And judging by the latest Microsoft activities, there is a high probability that, in addition to CSS3 and HTML5 support, we will see SVG in IE9)
