Battery recycling has become mandatory.

The EU leadership obligated sellers of various batteries to collect them for recycling. According to the new rules, starting from February 1, everyone who sells more than 32 kg of batteries per year (approximately 4 finger-size batteries per day) will have to give buyers the opportunity to bring the used battery back.

Very logical. Now when you go to the nearest stall to buy batteries for the remote from the TV, you can leave the old ones here. Finally, it became just to follow the “Do not throw away” sign, which has been on all batteries for many years.

Interestingly, before the introduction of this rule in the UK, for example, only 3% of environmentally harmful batteries were handed over for processing. This shows that even much more conscious Europeans in this regard needed the infrastructure established by the state. With the help of the new measure, the authorities plan to collect every second battery in 6 years.

By the way, three years ago, the British scientist William Tehil warned mankind about the imminent depletion of lithium reserves. According to his calculations, the most popular component of rechargeable batteries can end in a few years, if you do not start using it economically.
