I would like to share with the community about the first experience of releasing a game for the iPhone / iPod touch - reincarnation of the French card game Mille Bornes.
How it all started
The board card game “Mille Bornes” has a long history and relatively small but stable popularity. Its history began in the last century, so this is one of the “mammoths” (Progenitor dated 1906 -
Article on the game on the Wiki ) of this kind of games. The first acquaintance with this game took place on the monochrome Palm-based device Sony Clie PEG-S320, then this game has evolved into a color version (alas, I could not find screenshots of this game on Palm). After that, several versions were released under WinMobile:

And Symbian:

But I wanted to develop and get the opportunity to play on the iPhone
')
And so...
The idea of creating this application was prompted by the lack of analogues of this wonderful game on the iPhone / iPod touch - all that were found for various reasons were discarded. From the current situation there has been a single way out - to write your own. So, your attention is:
Due to licensing restrictions on the name, I had to invent my ownHow to play
Mille Bornes is a card game whose goal is to travel 5,000 miles in a race or 1,000 miles in a single player game. The game obeys the rules of the road - go to the "green", go to the "red". If there is a speed limit - it must be observed. If gasoline is out, you need to refuel, and if a wheel is punctured, then replace it with a spare one. In the event of an accident, you must repair your car before proceeding further. Like you, your opponent will try to get to the finish line first and try in every way to slow down your path, causing various obstacles.
There are three types of games:
- Single race (single) - up to 1000 miles.
- Race (race) - up to 5000 miles.
- Tournament (tournament) - a game of 3 levels of 5000 miles.
Total play 112 special cards. Maps are divided into 4 categories: distance maps, danger, means of protection and safety.
Course of the game
At the beginning of the game 6 cards are issued, to start moving you must use the GO card. If there are no distance maps, you need to discard one of the maps.
The player can move only on the green signal of the traffic light, i.e. when no restrictions are imposed on it. If the light is red, then it is necessary to use the card of counteraction to the corresponding restriction - the yellow signal of the traffic light will light up. Then, if there is no valid “protection against restrictions” card, you need to use the “Continue” card - the green light will come on and you can continue moving.
The game ends when one of the players runs exactly 1000 miles. Those. if the finish line is 50 miles, then the cards for 100 and 200 miles will be discarded.
And finally, some screenshots:
