Microsoft Rus LLC has initiated and supported the creation of an educational program on entrepreneurship in the field of software development “Start in Garage”. The course was organized by RUSSEE Consulting and ABRT Venture Fund.
The Start in Garage program is an intensive four-day course aimed at companies intending to launch a new software product or service on the market. The course is based on materials from the world's leading business schools, including the MIT Sloan School of Managment, Harvard Business School and many others.

“The Start in Garage program gives its participants the opportunity to talk with industry colleagues, see and discuss topical issues of young software business, share experiences, and establish relationships with potential partners,” said Sergey Eremin, Project Coordinator for the Development of Technological Entrepreneurship, Department Strategic Technologies, Microsoft Russia. “It is designed to help companies choose the right direction at the start and take the right steps in their development, using Russian and international experience.”
Key figures of the software business, such as Michael Kuzumano (Professor at MIT Sloan School of Management, best-selling author of Microsoft Secrets and The Business of Software, consultant to more than 50 leading global corporations) and Ratmir Timashev (founder of Aelita Software, VEEAM Software, President of Venture Fund ABRT).
All program instructors have practical business experience in software development and are leading experts in this field. A significant part of the Start in Garage course will be devoted to discussing the problems faced by software companies in the process of growth, successful and unsuccessful examples of their solution, including the analysis of international Internet and software projects.
The Start in Garage program will be implemented in 6 regions of Russia: in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Kazan and Tomsk. All participants in the program will receive certificates indicating that they have completed the course.
