Amazon beats records: 3 million Kindle
Amazon announced that by the end of 2009, it had managed to sell 3 million Kindle e-readers. This covers even the boldest forecasts of analysts who believed that the company would sell 2.5 million units only by the end of 2010.
Information about sales, however, unofficial: it appeared on TechCrunch, citing a source inside Amazon. However, it was indirectly confirmed by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who reported that the Kindle of all stripes is used by millions of people.

Interestingly, Amazon managed to achieve such indicators by selling the Kindle not only to individuals, but literally in bundles shipping them to organizations and enterprises.
