Base station - inside view

You probably already know that I work in a cellular company. Just yesterday, I had the opportunity to go inside the base station and see how it works. I took some photos, I decided to share it with Habr.

PS If there are mobile engineers on Habré, then they will certainly complement me with special terms, I will be very grateful to them.

Interestingly organized the entrance to the base station, in the trailer itself with the equipment.
Not only are motion sensors, temperature, humidity, fire alarms installed inside ...
')
The room itself is put on an alarm, information from which is sent to the control center of the Mobile Network Control and Monitoring Center (CUM), as well as from other sensors, however. There are a number of procedures that an engineer must do before getting into a room. Just like that, "from the street" you will not enter. ;-)

So, the photos themselves, with explanations.

For starters, the BS mast itself with antennas, as you can see, there are 5 of them. Why so - it will be clear further.

Close-up.

All procedures are performed, go inside.

It is the heart of the base station.

From here, it communicates with the switch over fiber. Sometimes a relay is put, but not in this case, because BS is installed on our own territory.

This unit is called the "cabinet", it is actually a set of equipment that makes up a 2G base station.

There are several such cabinets in the room, in this case there are two of them. In the photo, the engineer points to a unit that connects the equipment to the antennas mounted on the mast. Specifically - with the three that are located above.

Here you can see that 3 transmitters are installed in the office, each of which allows 8 subscribers registered on the BS to communicate simultaneously.

And this is the most delicious. This unit is the size of an office printer - a 3G base station. It is connected to the lower 2 antennas on the mast and provides high-speed Internet to all nearby offices.

What else is located in the room. Required - air conditioning, which all year round maintains the same air temperature and degree of humidity in the room. In addition, a cabinet with an electric board and a battery, which allows the BS to operate autonomously from 4 to 8 hours in the event of a power outage in the area.

You probably could see that there are 2 trailers near the tower - in the second there is a diesel generator, which, if necessary, will also ensure the operation of the equipment.

Those. The electric kettle and the microwave may not work for you at home, but the telephone will work until the battery sits down.

They also visited the excursion in the Central Department Store, where all the information about the status of the base stations flows, but, unfortunately, they did not take photographs there.

If you have any questions - please ask in the comments, I will try to answer them.
