NTV-Plus is preparing to enter the Russian IP television market. The launch of the project is scheduled for the summer of 2008, and investments in it will amount to several tens of millions of dollars. At the same time, most of the company's funds will have to be spent on organizing a signal delivery network,
Cybersecurity.ru reports with reference to the
B & FM newspaper.
According to the general director of "Corbina Telecom" Alexander Malis, "NTV-plus" will need about $ 1-10 million to launch the IP TV central station and another $ 50-150 million on the access network to each subscriber. But the company can go the other way and buy an operator with a ready network. In this case, he said, the purchase will cost hundreds of millions of dollars. To agree with the current operator, according to the expert of iKS-Consulting Margarita Zobnina, is much more effective for NTV-Plus.
The Russian IP TV market is now at the initial stage of its development. Major players have only identified themselves, and there is still enough space for new ones. In the total volume of the non-terrestrial TV market, which amounted to $ 400-600 in the country last year (data from the Discovery Research Group), IP TV takes no more than 2%.
