Google bets on online applications

Eric Schmidt announced Google's new corporate motto. It sounds like: “Search, Ads and Applications” (Search, Ads and Apps). This motto shows Google’s interest in online software.

Speaking to reporters at Google’s headquarters before the annual shareholders ’meeting, Eric Schmidt, Google’s executive director, said that his presentation to shareholders would be focused on three parts of the business.

Google is the world's largest search engine, and also occupies a leading position in the Internet advertising market - these are the areas of activity that bring the most profit. However, Eric Schmidt said that the company should not be limited to search and advertising, so now Google is focused on the release of online applications.

Last year, Google entered the online application market by releasing a free online office suite called Google Apps. In addition to the free version, there is a paid version for companies, government organizations and universities. Analysts believe that “Google Apps” may well compete with MS Office.

It is worth noting that at the moment, entry into the online application market brought Google a small income.
