“Valuehost is the largest hosting provider in Russia that has been providing web hosting services since 2000,” valuehost
writes about itself .
And here is an example of practical experience in using the services of this wonderful hosting provider.
I put the password on the mailbox through the valuehost's web admin area, and I write the same password in Outlook. The password is incorrect. I try in gmail, - the same. Just in case, I write the password in a text file, copying it alternately in the admin area and gmail, it doesn't work.
What was my surprise when it turned out that the reason was that there was a password limit on the value tree. And the restriction is not on the minimum, but on the maximum length of the password, and it is 8 characters. If you enter a password, for example, in 9 characters, then valuehost will simply cut it to the first eight, and, of course, will not tell you anything. Since I myself would never have come up with anything like this, I turned to the support service, from where I learned about this restriction.
Also through this service, I learned that there is a limit of 10 MB for one letter and 2 MB for each file in the attachment. Anyone can find this data on the site of the tree out of stock?
Here is a fragment of the correspondence:
Me : What is the volume of outgoing mail? When sending 9 MB (to different mailboxes), a message appears about exceeding the message size limit.
Valuehost : Message size not more than 10Mb. The size of one attachment is no more than 2 MB.
Me : Since when the size of a single attachment can not exceed 2 MB?
Valuehost : This restriction was introduced specially, entered it about a year ago, so as not to load the mail server.
')
This is how “the largest hosting provider in Russia” solves the problem of mail server loading.
By the way, the total limit for one mailbox is 30Mb. And the user is kindly given the choice of volume (and what if he wants 1Mb?)

On the
tariff comparison page it is written that a backup is being made, and even a picture is shown (picture number 1), having seen that the average user should be frightened, and never to return to this page.

However, let's take heart, and try to restore some file.

Judging by Valuehost 2006, Alfa Testing has been going on for 4 years. So do not expect that the value of the tree will actually make backup copies of your files.
What if you still got (in all senses) on such a hoster? Actually two options: change the hosting provider, or transfer mail to
Google Apps for Domain . I currently see the second option more attractive. Moreover, it is free for 50 users, plus IMAP and a convenient web-interface. Yandex has a similar solution
for Yandex.Mail for a domain , but, frankly, it is an order of magnitude worse than Google’s.
The Valuehost slogan says “We offer the best for less money!”, With
the cheapest fare being 293 p. per month.
Think again: 30 MB per box, 10 MB per letter and 2 per file in the attachment, as well as the lack of backup! It's amazing how such a digital dinosaur like Valuehost could live to 2010.
