CarPC to Nissan Wingroad

In the summer, before a long and responsible trip, I decided to install Car PC in the car. I read a bunch of forums, a bunch of articles. Made up my mind. Gathered money and ... here, actually, I offer my version.

It all started with the case. The body decided to put a passenger under the seat. Honestly - the toad crushed to buy a ready-made solution. The funds were cut, and even in a pre-chosen place, the stock buildings did not all become. Well, it turned out that not all enclosures take place under a power supply unit or it is necessary to power the computer through a converter, and it is necessary to hang all sorts of stickers in the form of filters and stabilizers.

Actually, first the most expensive part was purchased - a monitor. Took the touchscreen Lilliput 7 '' 1 DIN in dash. If on a simple - sliding motorized. Spent on setting the order of the day. The thing is, hands grow haphazardly and never climbed in the wiring of cars. While doping - day passed.

It’s a pity, but I didn’t take pictures of the monitor setup Yes, and in fact no different from installing a tape recorder.

After the accumulation of money and the demand for the components, the following components were filmed:
1) MB Intel Atom mini-ITX
2) DDRII 2Gb - begged from a friend
3) USB Wifi - was
4) USB Bluetooth - was
5) SSD Winchester
6) PSU M1-ITX (special for cars)

First I assembled a test stand from this to check the performance. It turned out that the SSD screw is not for such a computer. He worked somehow strange. It reads and writes fast enough, but then blunts for half a minute (and the whole computer was suspended).

I decided to take up the case. An ordinary ATX old case was torn apart. Sawed out of it a tiny body, based on the size of the motherboard only. Everything else planned to place on top.

It turned out that misery is obtained from improvised means. And the inspiration came.

An old plexiglass box was found. As a result, 6 hours of torment with a file and a heat gun and the body I did. Here are some pictures of the process:

Sawed the body is more flat (from the calculation of ventilation), and with the expectation to remove all the elements sideways from the motherboard.
It was decided to buy a normal laptop screw.
Well, how without experiments with shells?

Actually tried everything - Linux, Cutted Linux for cars, LiveCD, Windows.

For testing, the centrafuse darling and demo versions stopped on it.

More like telling nothing special, so the video how it works live.

In general, what I got the result:
1) spent, 40 thousand rubles (due to Monica and additional screw)
2) spent 4 days in general for installation and testing.
3) after 2 months of use, tired and realized that he was not needed :).

Software with which I tested:
1) Win XP Lite
2) Centrafuse - threw, buggy, then used WMP 10 - enough.
3) Gis Rx - I liked more than anything else. Not annoying, smoothly leads the marker, maps are free and constantly edited. Easy to manage.
