Sync iPhone with Google

Quite a long time ago, I nursed the idea of this article and finally found the time to write it.
For what I loved the iPhone, so it is for syncing with Google services . Now I don’t even know how to use a phone that doesn’t have mail (work and personal), a calendar and contacts with up-to-date information at any time. Judging by the Google report, mail synchronization now works only on the iPhone.

I tied my phone to Google Apps, instead of a regular Google account, however this doesn’t change anything and in each case everything is configured the same.
For everything to work, you will need an iPhone with OS 3.0 or higher, and also, if you are a Google Apps user, for the administrator to enable the Google Sync setting.

To begin with, we will make the phone synchronize mail, its own calendar and contacts.
  1. Open in iPhone Settings-> Mail, Contacts, Calendar-> Add Account .
  2. Choosing Microsoft Exchange
  3. In the email field enter the full address of your mail
  4. Perhaps the alert " Unable to verify certificate " appears , this is normal
  5. Domain left blank
  6. In the username field we enter the full postal address, I note that it is the postal address, not the login
  7. In the password field, enter the password
  8. When " Unable to Verify Certificate " appears , click Accept
  9. In the Server field, enter m.google.com
  10. Next, select next
  11. Now you need to select the services that we will synchronize. Because we want to sync everything, include 3 elements
  12. Done, now mail, calendar and contacts are synchronized

The second step is to set up synchronization. This is true if you, like me, have more than one mailbox (personal and work mail) and several calendars.
In order to configure which calendars to synchronize from your Google account, you need to:
  1. Open in Safari http://m.google.com/sync
  2. Log in to the system
  3. Choose your synced device
  4. Mark which calendars synchronize

If you are a Google Apps user, you need:
  1. Open in Safari http://m.google.com/sync
  2. Click " Google Apps user " at the bottom of the page.
  3. Enter your domain
  4. Click Sync
  5. Log in to the system
  6. Mark which calendars synchronize

Glitches were noticed when working with the Russian version of the site, if something goes wrong with you, I advise you to try switching to the English version.

The last step in setting up is adding an extra mailbox. Because There can be only one Microsoft Exchange account, the configuration process is slightly different:

  1. Open in iPhone Settings-> Mail, Contacts, Calendar-> Add Account .
  2. Choose Gmail
  3. In the Name field enter your name
  4. In the Address field enter the full address of the mailbox.
  5. In the Password field, enter the password
  6. Click Save

This way you can add as many mailboxes as you need.

Lastly I would like to advise the application. To turn the iPhone into the perfect mobile tool, I recommend to install the IntelliScreen program, which is available only for JailBreak phones in Cydia repositories. This program displays new letters and upcoming events from the calendar on the phone unlock screen.

The main advantage of synchronization is, of course, the ability to gain access to relevant information, but there is another useful feature. Now you do not need to be afraid of losing the phone, and with it all the contacts. Restoration of all phones on the new device will take no more than 10 minutes.
