Debian Etch support will be discontinued February 15, 2010

Security updates for Debian GNU / Linux codename “Etch” will be discontinued on February 15, 2010. Security updates for Etch have been provided by the Debian team for one year since the release of the new stable Lenny, in order to give everyone the opportunity to upgrade without haste.
Let me remind you, Debian Etch was released on April 8, 2007, its repositories at that time consisted of about 18 thousand packages. The official support of the amd64 architecture first appeared in this release, support for Motorola processors (m68k) was discontinued, and a graphical installer was present. Etch switched to the oldstable state on February 14, 2009.
