Motorola MOTOROI - the flagship Android-background company

After a long lull, Motorola decided to literally overwhelm the market with various smartphones based on the Android OS. After the already well-known Motorola CLIQ (DEXT) and DROID (Milestone), the company introduced 3 more devices: MOTO MT710 , MOTO XT800 , and Motorola Backflip . It is reliably known about at least 3 more upcoming devices of the company in the near future. Interestingly, the American manufacturer is trying to get into all segments of the market at once, offering smartphones in the middle price range with social services, and HTC HD2 level devices (the announcement is closer to spring). Apparently the company is doing quite well, over the past 2 and a half months, Motorola DROID has sold more than a million copies, and the results of the 4th quarter of 2009, which will be announced at the end of the month, promise to be the most successful in the last 3 years.

Today we will talk about another new product of Motorola MOTOROI XT720, previously known as Sholes Tablet (for comparison, DROID / Milestone bore the internal name Sholes). And although the phone has been announced only for the Korean market, it supports communication standards that are not typical for Europe and America, and is even equipped with a tuner for receiving Korean T-DMB mobile television, the announcement of the worldwide version of the device is not far off. The Chinese will receive a third modification of the smartphone with an index XT701 and a weaker camera. In April, the smartphone will be available also in Russia. By the way, Motorola Milestone c upgrade to Android 2.1 can also be bought in the store in early March at a fairly affordable price for this class of device at 22,000 rubles at the start, followed by a decrease. The device is positioned primarily as the best photo solution in the classroom. The Motorola MOTOROI is distinguished by an 8 megapixel camera (module from Kodak) with a xenon flash and a whole bunch of features, such as red-eye removal, face detection, image stabilization, multi-shooting, manual and automatic focus (the phone focuses on the point where you click finger) and so on. Moreover, the phone records video in 720p HD resolution. Those interested can rate the camera on the promo video on YouTube . Well, to output all the footage to a large TV on the phone there is a real HDMI connector. Other features include a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 854 × 480 pixels and support for multi-touch, Wi-Fi, aGPS, 3.5mm and other standard things. A hardware platform with a Cortex A8 processor (800 MHz) and a powerful 3D accelerator is used. All this is in a case with a thickness of 10.9mm (in the widest part) and dimensions of 115.9x60.9 mm with a weight of 139 grams (a lot of metal is used in the case). In Korea, the phone will be available for sale in early February. In Europe, the cost of the device will be slightly higher than the Motorola Milestone.



I also want to mention a very bold design of the device. The American manufacturer once again demonstrated a complete disregard for the existing traditions of industrial design, stereotypes and the usual forms of handheld devices. Who said that the body of the phone should be smooth and the corners rounded? The Motorola XT720 reminds me of IBM notebooks in the company's best years — utility, functionality, brutality, and uneven titanium covers on the bottom of the laptop, blocking access to various parts of the device’s electronic components. Together, all this created a unique style for which the company’s laptops still love. With Motorola MOTOROI the same story: if at first glance the phone seems disproportionate, crooked and strange, then from the second it is incredibly cool and stylish.
