DivX and Xvid on Apple TV

Despite all its advantages, Apple TV has 2 major drawbacks - limited support for codecs (for example, Xvid, DivX, etc.) and even such a generally accepted standard for surround sound like Dolby Digital 5.1. These issues were resolved almost immediately after the announcement of Apple TV, but their implementation was far from perfect. Such an elementary action, such as, say, forcing your Apple TV to synchronize and play XviD video, was quite a daunting task.
