Galileo Satellite System Overtakes Crisis
The EU is experiencing a serious shortage of funds for the implementation of the project to create a European satellite navigation system Galileo. This was stated by the Minister of Transport of the EU Presidency of Germany Wolfgang Tiefensee.
“Galileo is at an impasse. We need to find a way out of the financial and organizational crisis, ”he stressed. As a solution, the minister proposed a significant increase in the share of state participation in this project.
The eight companies working together on Galileo cannot agree on how to distribute the volume of orders for the creation of this system. Investors doubt the profitability of the project.

On May 10, the ultimatum expires, which the European Commission put forward to the concern participants in mid-March. By this date, a solution must be found to the existing problems and a separate company will be created to coordinate the work on Galileo.
Meanwhile, the Russian GLONASS project is not experiencing any problems, as well as the Chinese “Beidou” system.
