Idea: stereo image at home

It was thought that for transmitting / receiving a stereo image you need only that simple red and blue glasses ($ 1.5), and a couple of webcams ($ 10 apiece).

Webcams are mounted on the monitor, so that the centers of their lenses are at a distance of 6-7 cm from each other. It remains to lay a piece of paper under the edges of the mounts, so that the foci of the cameras converge at about one point (where the person is sitting). After that - the software part: two cameras transmit the image one on red, the other on the blue channel.
And by the software method, the video streams are superimposed on each other, and transmitted to the same Skype. As a result, a person on the other side of the monitor wearing red and blue glasses can see you in 3D. Well, and you - him if you want it.

Minuses:
- when both interlocutors want a stereo image, it is not so interesting to see the interlocutor in such glasses, let them in 3D :)
- need to buy 2 webcams;
- 3D-focus will be collected when removing / approaching cameras;
- software for such a case does not exist yet;
-?

Pros:
+ just enough to implement from a hardware point of view;
+ cheap components ($ 22 for one computer);
+?
')
I wonder why no one tried to implement this until now?
(if there were attempts, I will be grateful for the links)
