Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!
To begin with, like many of you who use the windows family of operating systems, I like to reinstall the system from time to time, enjoying a week of fast clean operating systems. So this time I decided to occupy myself on the New Year holidays (although it’s rather from the reluctance to add a diploma :)) and take it all to hell. Since my laptop is fairly new, half a year, setting all the settings in my head was not postponed, and I am lazy to make images of the system, I set up the system in a new way, I did something as it was, in a new way. Worst of all, I did it with the sound settings (the standard utility did not work at first) and the display was turned off - for some reason it turned off the backlight for some reason and did not respond to mouse movements or pressing the keyboard.
Next will be a more interesting story about the feature or bug of the laptop.
The funniest thing starts here - for the New Year, I was presented with a PocketBook 301 Plus reader that I’m already in love with as a standard (which is important, please note :)). It goes without saying that I love to read, in part, that this is a new gadget, but more because of the reluctance to take up a diploma, I sit and read a book after a book right in front of a laptop.
And just yesterday, I began to notice (like the Sharp-Sighted Eye from a joke) that the screen goes out for a reason, and not even after a certain time, but when I put the book in the cover on the open laptop over the touchpad. At first, I thought it was a tricky undocumented feature — the built-in light detector — cool, but on my hands closing everything that could be on the screen did not go out ...
And just a few minutes ago, I accidentally put the angle of the reader on top of the microphone next to the touchpad (circled)

Here, I think it would be appropriate to note that the cover in standard equipment is supplied with relatively strong magnets (very convenient for reading, by the way). And it turns out that if you bring the magnet exactly to this point (it does not work with others), the screen goes dead and does not react to any actions, even to keyboard shortcuts.
Hence the question - is it a bug or a feature like those rubber pens that were on old laptops and turned off the screen when closing the covers?

UPD : now I spent on the cover with a magnet in the same place - it pushes away, it means all the same feature!
UPD2 : yes, I have already suggested that this is a Hall sensor, you can read in
