Engineers from London have created a phone that can work on Coca-Cola, or any other cold liquid containing sugar. As an example, researchers have demonstrated a Nokia mobile phone that works on the well-known brown soda.
Daitsi Zheng, one of the developers of the novelty, says that their phone can work 3-4 times longer than the exact same model on a lithium-ion battery. The new phone is completely environmentally friendly and wins over its counterparts by the fact that its charging time is a few seconds - this is how long it takes to pour new portion of sweet water into a special container behind the phone.

Experts themselves call their development completely “biocompatible” and much more powerful than rechargeable cell phones. The secret of producing electricity needed for work is simple: the tube works by analogy with fuel cells, but instead of hydrogen, the reaction of so-called short carbohydrates contained in sugar occurs here, and electricity is just a by-product.
However, there is a secret in the phone: the fact is that the chemical breakdown of carbohydrates is carried out with the help of a special enzyme, the formula of which is considered by the researchers to be their main innovation and do not reveal it until the end of the patenting.

Zheng says that their project was created specifically for Nokia mobile phones, as there was an agreement with the company, however, in principle, the Coca-Cola mobile phone can be from any manufacturer.
It is worth recalling that the fuel cell that produces electricity from a popular soft drink last year was already demonstrated by Sony. The device was demonstrated at the
International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo in Japan in March 2009.
