qTrack: the easiest task management system

Just recently, my colleague asked me (yes, in fact, a competitor) if I know a simple and easy task management system, well, in general, that I can advise him. I offered him a system on which I work in my company (if I’m curious, I’ll tell you later), and which we actually developed. But for his needs, it is somewhat excessive.


Immediately, I note that the needs of my friend are limited to the work of a dozen developers. If you draw an analogy - a peer company.

And then I remember that I saw something on riw2009, rummaged in business cards and found a rather interesting and new product. And most importantly, while free. She really liked my friend so much that he offered to write on Habr, suddenly someone will come in handy too.

The basic idea, and a fairly common one, is that you can subscribe to the task of any user who has email. He immediately receives a link by which he can go and chat. If the communication continues, he changes his password to any convenient user and he is already a full-fledged user.

Tasks have the ability to attach files, links to which will be received by everyone who is in the copy. The thing is convenient, of course, but the bad thing is that the file cannot be “detached” from the task, for example, if you accidentally put in your favorite pwd.txt.

You can keep threads hidden discussions directly in the problem. My friend checked - he speaks very conveniently. It is hidden from the customer to discuss how to culturally explain to him that he is wrong in this case - a nice thing. The developers boast that no one else has this functionality, and I, in truth, have not seen it.

You can also filter tasks and tag them.

In fact, from the core - this is almost everything. You can see for yourself, the system is light and the functionality is designed for small groups of people. No workflow, no signatures of managers to confirm the task.

Everything is simple and affordable. And most importantly, I really do not know for how long, for free. But during the last 3 months, while it is available to the general public, there has not even been a hint that this version will be monetized. Why do I say it is on this version - because they are going to soon launch more clever options. Let's see what happens.
