Microsoft has resumed talks on a possible takeover with Yahoo, the Wall Street Journal recently reported. The cost of a possible transaction, analysts estimate in the amount of from 38.2 billion to 50 billion dollars.
Companies have been negotiating for more than a year, but they were suddenly suspended at the beginning of this year, according to Reuters. Apparently, Microsoft has decided that it can cope on its own and it’s better to invest the same $ 50 billion in your MSN than spend it on Yahoo, but common sense overpowered and the negotiations continued.
“Microsoft can take many years and tens of billions of dollars to catch up with Google on its own,” Canaccord Capital analyst Peter Misek said. The company can reach a serious position either by swallowing up about a dozen small companies, or by buying a large asset at the level of Yahoo, the analyst is sure. According to him, the likelihood of a transaction in the next six to nine months is quite high.
