Plastic Logic Introduces Que E-Reader New Ebook
On Thursday, Plastic Logic showed the final version of its Que E-Reader.
The device, as expected, is a full-screen e-book with a touchscreen and an interface designed to quickly navigate a document or book.
An innovation is the smooth surface of the device, free from buttons. Instead, the device is fully controlled via a touch interface using gestures.
Plastic Logic will sell a model with 4Gb of memory, Wi-Fi and a 11.6-inch display for $ 649, and the version with double memory and 3G in addition to Wi-Fi will sell for $ 799. The start of sales is scheduled for April.
“All that we are trying to do at Plastic Logic is to give you all the benefits of paper without any flaws,” says Richard Archuleta, CEO of Plastic Logic.
The device can also access e-mail, calendars and other data from Microsoft Outlook. The goal, as Archuleta said, is not just to create another e-book, but rather to replace the papers and documents with which the typical employee’s portfolio is full.

Although Thursday’s events marked the official beginning of Que’s history, Plastic Logic has been showing prototype devices for several years since 2007.
The output of the device was originally expected last year, but eventually it was delayed, leaving more time for rivals to get into the market. Archuleta stated that the company used lag time to improve early patterns.
