Las Vegas started a good habit back in 1967 - in January each year to hold an interesting exhibition, CES (International Consumer Electronics Show, International Consumer Electronics Show). Oh, if she was in Moscow, I would ...)
CES 2010 is a great event for Intel and it prepared itself very seriously. In the middle of the day, Intel's executive director, Paul Otellini , held a keynote (the main event report?), Where he told a lot of interesting things. ')
Naturally, the most important for the public (and why hide - for the company too) was the launch of new processors of the Core family - Core i3 , Core i5 and Core i7 . First of all, these are the first processors manufactured using 32-nanometer technology (codenamed Westmere ) and it’s not at all embarrassing to insert this beautiful (fresh and juicy) cheerful movie:
Those who are more smart, probably already clicked on links to pages with specifications) I don’t know about you ... and I, looking only at the mobile segment of new stones (especially with low-voltage consumption), involuntarily gives rise to an optimistic conclusion that in the near future really mobile and powerful laptops are waiting for us.
Even judging by the press releases, the new Intel Core i5 is about two times faster than the previous generation of processors in all that concerns video, photos and other multimedia tasks. Video adapters integrated into the processor are capable of playing high-definition video, and if the notebook has more powerful discrete graphics, you can switch to it without rebooting. With some knowledge of foreign languages, you can familiarize yourself with the detailed and very interesting independent testing of new Core i5.
All new wireless adapters will turn your laptop into a virtual access point and connect several devices to a wireless network. A new feature in the face of Intel Wireless Display will allow you to connect laptops based on new mobile Core processors to high-definition TVs using wireless communication - another reason to think about updating the TV;)
And, of course, it is pleasant for hospitals - the mighty Core i7 against the background of developing technologies like USB3.0, SATA3 and SSD look very profitable and promising. I assembled my working computer exactly on the basis of this processor (Core i7 860) - being in the minimum course of the company's plans for a 1156 socket in the future, I think I made the right choice in the price / quality criteria :)
It is impossible not to say about the gaining momentum in some of the new processors technology Intel Turbo Boost . In short, this improver is designed for an independent automatic increase in the clock frequency (within the bounds of decency) of the processor cores, when it is necessary for current tasks (if the processor is unevenly loaded). Well, and, accordingly, its reduction in order to save energy in the no-load mode (you can learn more about Turbo Boost technology on the official website ). If earlier this bonus was available only in expensive server solutions, now it will be available in the mass market - the list of processors supported by the technology is in the specs from the links above.
New processors in Russia will appear officially from January 19, and I think there will again be some interesting meeting on this occasion. I hope to be in the center of events again, and maybe even take someone with you. A subtle hint of thick circumstances;)
In addition to processors, Paul Otellini told about several related topics, including speculating about the near future. “ A new era is coming very quickly.Calculations are no longer limited to personal computers — they are everywhere . ” So, for example, in his opinion, the next big thing that will appear in our apartments after high-definition television will be three-dimensional images. Paul's visitors were given special glasses thanks to which the system based on the new Core i7 demonstrated examples of using three-dimensional images in home and family products.
Those who closely follow my rare posts may still remember the recent post about new Atoms. There, I talked about the upcoming launch site for mobile applications like netbooks. So, just today, the Intel AppUp site was launched.
By the principle of operation, this project is somewhat similar to the iTunes Store - even in the autumn IDF, developers got access to everything needed to create applications for "atoms", so now there are the first programs in AppUp. According to Paul Otellini, over time, Intel and partners are planning to expand the range of AppUp and include programs for handhelds, MIDs, smartphones, TVs and even something else. In general, you are welcome.
As for the mobile innovations from Intel, LG was very surprised by showing the first smartphone based on the Moorestown mobile platform to the general public. The Intel processor, a panoramic wide-angle screen of almost a five-inch diagonal, high-definition video, support for three-dimensional graphics, GPS, a digital compass, HSPA-radio and a five-megapixel camera - all this works using the Moblin operating system. Strong? )
I recommend viewing a photo report about the speech of the head of the company on the Engadget website - a lot of interesting things, at least photos.
Well, if you are a time management guru and you have a lot of free time, you can read Twitter at Intel employees, as well as watch photos from CES 2010, which are laid out in a separate set on a flickr. And here is the link to the custom portal Intel Galaxy .
