Microsoft joins SVG working group

Yesterday, we sent a request to join the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) working group from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) , as part of Microsoft’s continued interest in adhering to and supporting standards. We are pleased to be involved in providing future versions of the SVG specification that will meet the needs of developers and users.

As stated on the website of the SVG working group, “The goal of the working group is to continue the development of scalable vector graphics as a format and platform, as well as to increase the popularity and usability of SVG in combination with other technologies.” We recognize that vector graphics are an important component of the next-generation web platform. As can be seen from our continued participation in the W3C working groups, we are determined to participate in the standards support process to ensure a healthy future for the Internet. Our participation in the SVG working group is built on similar goals.

To date, I have had several meetings with the SVG working group, and their clear commitment to creating great technologies for users and developers is very noticeable. I personally look forward to working more closely with these wonderful people.
