So the holidays thundered, so the CES exhibition will start soon, with a rich variety of interesting devices. In the meantime, I will talk about a simple but interesting device that fell out of a bag of scattered Santa Claus. So, meet, digital photo frame Pandigital 700DW .
For a start, short specs:
Screen size 7 "
Resolution 800x600
Contrast 400: 1
1GB internal memory
Readable SD, MS, MS Pro, MMC, XD, Micro Drive, USB Drive Formats
Readable formats JPEG, AVI, MP3
Included was the following
')
- photo frame itself
- wooden frame with two liners
- Remote Control
- mini-usb cable
- Power Supply
- disk with manual
- Traditional quick start guide and advertising insert.
The photo frame itself looks strict and simple. I would even say, it is too strict and technological.
However, it is necessary to “dress” a wooden frame, and it is completely transformed. Gets a classic and traditional look. In this form, it can be safely attached in any interior, and it will not break its comfort.
You can use white or black liner, I personally liked white more.
Consider more carefully than the frame is equipped
On the left side: brightness control, headphone jack, switch and power socket.
On the right side: card reader slot and USB (host)
Above: multiple buttons duplicated from the remote
On the back wall: mini-usb socket, speaker, leg, holes for installation on the wall, platform for the console
The leg supposedly can be rotated and put the frame in portrait mode, and it will even unfold photos. However, when trying to do this, I noticed two small “glitches”.
Firstly, the menus do not turn over, so working with the frame in this mode is not at all convenient.
And secondly - when trying to do it without a wooden frame - the base rested on the power plug and stood crooked (with wood or on the wall everything will be fine)
The console itself is quite simple and not super-quality, but it’s not necessary for such a simple device.
I really liked the idea of a “platform for the console” - there is a magnet to which you can attach the console and it will hang there. Firstly, it is not necessary to look for a place for him, and secondly, the probability of his loss decreases.
I got the power supply unit with an American plug, but the input voltage is 100-240V, so the power supply issue was resolved with a simple adapter.
Testing
We turn on the device and literally in 10 seconds it starts to show photos. Ideal for a simple user. This simplicity gave me an idea what to do next with this device - it would be a great gift for a grandmother! :) You just have to turn it on and you can enjoy the photos of your favorite grandchildren (who will come to visit and replenish / update the collection with a certain frequency :).
The display is bright, the image is clear, the photograph is clearly visible even in direct light.
Then I checked it by pointing the lamp right on the screen. So the frame can be safely put in a sunny and bright room.
Go to the main menu and see what is there:
Photos - view photos and manage them. This menu item is turned on automatically when turned on.
Music - listening to music. As stated above, it can play mp3, but as an independent function it is not very interesting - the quality of the speaker is not, say, “audiophile” at all, but the interface is extremely inconvenient for using it as a player.
Video - frame can play Motion JPEG AVI - fortunately my Canon shot in this relatively rare format, so here’s a recursive video about the video :)
Here you can also program the start-off time of the frame on working days and weekends.
It is quite reasonable - after all, it is not at all interesting to see photos during sleep :)
Wi-Fi - according to the manual, you can plug in a wi-fi adapter into usb and receive updates from photo sites or download photos from a computer. This function could not be tested due to the lack of an adapter.
From the main menu, you can also go to the settings, where you can change the various parameters of the frame.
The most important, in my opinion, is the setting of the slideshow mode - since in this mode the photo frame will work 95% of the time.
Adjustable parameters are playing music during a slideshow, transition view, photo switching interval (5, 10, 30, 60 seconds, 1 hour, 24 hours), Shuffle, display of the current time and date / time of the photo.
Two words about uploading photos :) Everything is very simple.
Connect the frame via mini-usb, and two devices will appear.
One of them is internal memory is a second card reader.
It is enough to copy the desired files, and after disconnecting the device they will be available for viewing.
What is even more interesting - photos can be downloaded from memory cards or flash drives.
Connecting a USB flash drive to a usb device, it will offer us the following:
View photos
Import all photos
Select photos to import.
Everything is very simple and intuitive.
So when you go to the grandmother for pies, you just need to grab a flash drive with fresh photos to please her with the completion of her album. :)
Conclusion
Very interesting and nice device. An interesting replacement for simple photo frames, if only because instead of one photo it can show several thousand. And the small size and huge amount of memory easily beat the big dusty photo albums.
On the other hand, its practicality, in certain conditions, is very doubtful - for me the computer is more convenient for viewing photos - 20 GB of conveniently navigable photos and a large screen. :)
pros
ease of use and replenishment
good quality pictures
fairly flexible settings
convenient calendar and timer on / off functions, sleep timer, alarm clock
wonderful idea of keeping the remote
Minuses
not very high quality remote
small technical oversights
not super quick menu
questionable practicality
In a word, I see one thing for this thing - this is a great gift for grandparents who are happy to see the latest photos of loved ones. And coming to visit them, it will be very easy to please them with fresh photos.
Thank you all for your attention, I hope you will like my first article :)
