Pidgin 2.0 released

Pidgin
After two years of development, the release of Pidgin 2.0 was released (a popular cross-platform IM client based on GTK, formerly known as Gaim, but renamed due to a conflict with AOL).

2.0 is the first release released under the new name. It supports 14 IM protocols, including XMPP, AIM, ICQ, etc. The new version fixes many bugs found since 2.0.0beta6 (which was included in Ubuntu Feisty Fawn) and since 2.0.0beta2-3 (which was in Ubuntu Edgy Eft). The appearance has been greatly changed, many icons have been changed, a lot of work has been done in the area of UI and usability (which means that the core of the program and its functionality are already very stable).

The site has now published versions of Pidgin only for windows and for Fedora Core. And, of course, the source codes are available.

Personally, I use Gaim for a long time, and not only under Linux. I highly recommend trying this client and all windows users - most likely, you will like it because of its consistency and correctness. You can download it in the download section of the official site.
