For the first time in history, scientists from New York Medical University were able to observe in real time the formation of dendrites - tiny branches from the brain cells of neurons, which are responsible for storing long-term memories. For the experiment, neuroscientists used genetically modified mice, in which the neurons of the cerebral cortex are capable of producing yellow fluorescent protein - a kind of marker for new memories. It turned out that new dendrites are divided into three groups: the first one disappears in the first days after the end of the training; the second lasts an average of 1-2 months. But there is a third group of dendrites (about 0.8 percent), which lasts for life. A grandiose discovery has been made: it is possible that in the future it will be possible to extract early infant memories, stimulating the necessary brain areas, or record the memories of a deceased person.

I hope everyone understands that (despite the flight of journalists' imagination) immediately before downloading memories from the brain is still very far away: science still does not know in what format memories are stored in dendrites.

In addition, long-term memories are probably stored in the brain as a set of highly compressed and vivid impressions and images painted emotionally - no HD Video can be viewed to view, so small details of the murder scene cannot be obtained from the victim's brain, for example.
