The release of SpamAssassin 3.3.0 is scheduled for January 15, 2010.

After a year and a half of development, the SpamAssassin project's anti-spam development team plans to release a new version in January 2010.
There are a lot of changes in the new version, but mainly they concern the extended set of rules, as well as the optimization of the project code for a more dynamic update of the rules.

Major changes:

- filtering rules are excluded from the base delivery. All new rules are loaded using sa-update
- Removed use of modules MAIL :: DomainKeys and MAIL :: SPF :: Query
- The AWL module is no longer loading by default. You need to additionally include it in the configuration file.
- Work in Perl versions 5.6. * And below is not supported. Recommended versions 5.8.8, 5.8.9, 5.10.1
- DKIM plugin is now able to understand and verify the digital signatures of domain keys.
- Added timeout for the work of connected plug-ins, the default is 300 seconds. If the plugin does not respond, it is carefully targeted and the check continues as usual.
- Added the ability to exclude unnecessary sections from the debug information (include everything at once and then exclude unnecessary)
- Added full IPv6 support for various lists (AWL, trusted_networks, etc.)
- Added a bunch of new rules and content checking emails.
')
You can start testing now. The version is quite stable and most likely there will be no big changes to the release.
