Coniferous holiday is coming

I want to draw your attention to an interesting pattern in the celebration of religious holidays. People have the greatest predilection for precisely those traditions that have appeared not lately, but borrowed from archaic religious cults.

The tradition to establish a Christmas tree in the house, according to historians, came from Germany. For my part, I note that similar customs existed in other countries. Beliefs say that spirits are in evergreen firs, and in order to appease them, you need to make offerings to them. Later, Christianity introduced its canonical rules into this rite. This tradition is conventionally called the cult of Obo. For the first time, scientists paid close attention to such beliefs in Tibet, which have been preserved within the framework of Dzogchen, which is one of the Buddhist traditions. Before the advent of Buddhism in Tibet, all these traditions were already supported by the so-called Bon religion, which according to B.I. Kuznetsov was one of the branches of Mithraism. If you believe the studies of other religious scholars, the tradition of this cult can be called one of the most ancient within the framework of the history of the development of religions.
So it turns out that the most popular holiday contains the most ancient pagan rite as its main element.

How are we different from our ancestors, if they also tied ribbons on trees, drank beer, brago, soma or whatever, wondered on charms or runes, and also made wishes at the time of winter solstice?
