Aqua penguin

Engineers of the Festo company from Hannover (Germany), created a robot aquingvin.



This robot swims under water almost like a real penguin, it can navigate, maneuver in a limited space, and also change its course. The hydrodynamic form and system of motion is as close as possible to its natural counterpart.

Inside the aquingvin there is an electric motor that drives the wings, with which he actually repels himself from the water. The robot gained the ability to bend its body thanks to the patented technology of the fin structure, which was obtained from the fish's caudal fin. Bionic penguins are designed to be completely autonomous underwater. A three-dimensional intelligent sonar system allows the robot to navigate in space and avoid collisions, including when the penguins are in a group. The robot is controlled by a flexible longitudinal rack.



The engineers at Festo did not stop there and created an air penguin, as well as a mechanical arm that is able to handle the most fragile objects with the utmost care.
