In the UK, mobile phones are no longer used for calls
According to the annual research of the company JD Power in the UK, for the first time in 10 years, the share of subscribers using voice services has decreased. The results of the study, in which about 3,000 British subscribers participated, showed that on average, a subscriber who uses prepaid cellular calls makes 10 calls a week, and a subscriber who has entered into a long-term contract with a cellular operator makes 27 calls. Last year, the numbers were different - 14 and 35 calls, respectively.
However, the number of SMS sent increased from 32 last year to 46 text messages per week. Indeed, it is too boring for people of the 21st century to communicate by voice. Text messages, which previously attracted mostly young people, have become popular among Britons of all ages. Now, residents of the UK excel in bullying English, trying to squeeze a meaningful message in 160 characters.
This news should upset cellular operators who lose revenues from the provision of voice services. SMS communication is much cheaper for subscribers. The British began to spend less on cellular communication - an average of 12.35 pounds (about 600 rubles) per month is written off from the account of subscribers using prepayments, and 32.45 pounds (about 1600 rubles) from the account of subscribers who have signed a long-term contract with the operator. Last year, expenses were 19.29 and 40.44 pounds per month, respectively. ')
Despite the best efforts of British operators, their revenues continue to decline. JD Power notes that the British simply do not have time for phone calls - subscribers use their phones for all sorts of entertainment - mobile games, video viewing and participation in eBay auctions.
