The VideoLAN project, in which the popular VLC video player is being developed, announced the creation of a new video editor, called VLMC (VideoLAN Movie Creator), at the VideoLAN dev'days 2009 conference in Paris these days. As conceived by the developers, VLMC, having a friendly and simple user interface, will maintain a range of possibilities sufficient to create films of semi-professional quality.
The first preliminary release for Linux, Windows and MacOS X platforms is expected soon. At the moment, users can try to build VLMC from source distributed through the project's Git repository (git clone git: //github.com/VLMC/vlmc.git). GPLv2 is used as a license, the editor interface is built using the Qt 4.5 library.
