We make a monoblock "Acer" from a laptop

Impressed by the manufacture of a digital frame from a laptop , I decided to show how similarly monoblocks (a computer with a monitor in a single case) that are now included in fashion can be assembled from broken laptops, which are not advisable to repair, and it is a pity to throw out.

Acer candy bar do it yourself

1. Take a laptop (in this case - Acer TravelMate 212tx: 800 MHz Celeron processor, video - built-in Trident CyberBlade, 512 MB of memory, 40 GB hard drive, dvd-rom). We gently drop it on the floor several times, the last time we step carefully on top of it to break off the lid, but the matrix remains alive (unfortunately, I don’t have any photos of this stage).

2. We buy / find a dead beer for a beer / to a monitor that is suitable in size. We take out the filling, leaving only the case with the stand.

3. Cooking a laptop.
a) remove the keyboard, for better cooling of the processor (in the photo there is also no processor heatsink, but it should be left - I shot it purely for a photo session); to the contacts of the power button and speakers solder wiring tails:

remove excess

b) in the lid of the laptop we make a slot for the plumes of the matrix, with the expectation that the lid will be rotated 180 degrees, like in a laptop transformer (“tablet”):

dragging the trains

c) on the lid of the matrix we glue the double-sided tape with a narrow strip along the edge and widely in those places that will be pressed against the case of the laptop (to the right and left of the touchpad); “Acer” label otkovyrivaem - then stick on the face, to get a candy bar brand:

prepare the laptop for gluing

4. We disassemble the monitor, and to its external frame from the inside we glue with a double-sided tape around the perimeter of the matrix cover, wiring, removed from the laptop power button and speakers, solder to the switch and monitor speakers:

glue the cover of the laptop to the front frame of the monitor

5. Glue the main body to the lid of the matrix:

glue the case of the laptop

6. We cut and bend the fasteners to the monitor stand, which will hold the laptop (it is rather heavy, I must say - about 3 kg); For this you can use, for example, the details of old computer cases:

cooking stand

The power supply unit of the laptop was glued to the same stand for convenience:

sticking b / n to stand

7. Carefully fasten the stand to the laptop with short screws (so as not to scroll through it):

fasten the stand to the laptop

8. On the sides of the back cover of the monitor case, we make cuts for the flop, sidyuk, pcmcia:

preparing the back cover of the monitor

9. Screw the back cover into place with the long screws to the front frame of the monitor. The remaining groove should be carefully pasted over with adhesive tape (choose the brand and color as desired), without gluing up the slots for the drives;) On the front frame, do not forget to paste the torn in paragraph 3. into the Acer label. And now - ready handsome!

The keyboard, mouse, and other external devices are connected via USB — the notebook has two ports, to which I connected a USB hub.

UPD: I recommend to pay attention in the comments to the photo of the laptop in the interior: habrahabr.ru/blogs/DIY/79118/#comment_2313772
