There is such a project,
Futurepicture , completely dedicated to plenoptic photography. Its creators, Daniel Ritz and Matti Kariluoma did not dwell only on the idea of a site completely dedicated to her. Yes, and they have done it simply, on Wordpress, besides, on the main lie only a few news that is now being studied at once in several research centers in the US (Massachusetts, Stanford, Columbia). Plenoptic photography excites minds even in the laboratories of Adobe and some manufacturers of photographic equipment. It’s a joke, a camera that can get three-dimensional images or the possibility of shifting the focus point after the frame is taken. For this, there must be even a Wikipedia page, but
in Russian it is not . In addition to the blog itself, they also created a prototype camera - it took 12 Canon A-series cameras. The secret of the unit is simple - they just reflashed the cameras with their own software, screwed them to the beam for durability and connected it to the computer that processes the image.

12 cameras capture the frame at the same time, without focusing, after which much can be done with the image: for example, by aligning certain areas, focus on the foreground or, conversely, on the back. You can also create three-dimensional images - due to the fact that the cameras are in one line, they capture the image from different angles, which can be used to create pseudo-three-dimensional or real three-dimensional images.

The developers also want to open the code of their software, which they use to create images and work with the plenoptic prototype to enable other enthusiasts to get involved in the work.
