Everybody makes me happy with Chrome, and quite firmly takes the place of the main browser under Windows. However, since the introduction of the “most visited sites” as the basis for each new tab, I was overwhelmed with the idea that it was too primitive - for the time being it was impossible even to fix the necessary sites (let alone add them there manually). With the advent of extensions, this problem, thank God, has evaporated.
I present to you the
Speed Dial for Chrome.
Main expansion options:
- Select the number of rows and columns on the page (maximum 6x6)
- Select background image
- Several preset color themes
- Disabled search bar with Google Suggest
- Dragging Speed Dial Items
After installing the extension, its icon appears, through which you can open the Speed Dial or add the current page to it.

I do not know why a search line is needed there, but if it exists, it should work as it should. By default, she does not understand Russian speech, so in the \Users\<_>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\dgpdioedihjhncjafcpgbbjdpbbkikmi\1.0.2\script.js
you need to make small corrections:
in the "document.location="http://www.google.com/search?q="+query"
, located at the very end, replace "search?q="
with "search?hl=ru&q="
in the line "var URL="http://google.com/complete/search?output=toolbar&q="+val"
, located a little earlier than the previous one, add +"&hl=ru"
- fixed in version 1.0.3 , I apologize Apparently these were private problems of the author :)
UPD : literally a couple of hours after this post, the extension has been updated - now there is also the option “Show recently closed tabs”. Plus, the extension icon is now moved to the address bar - which is much more convenient and practical.
UPD 12.20.09: in version 1.0.4, a tab bar from the classic speed dial appeared:

In addition, now options are available from the extensions page, and the Options button can be hidden, as well as the extension icon in the address bar - if you have already scored the entire SD and it bothers you there
PS : just in case I remind you that at the moment extensions are
supported by Beta and Dev versions for Windows and Linux, as well as Dev versions for Mac OS
