What is geocaching? This is a unique phenomenon, a game, a kind of active recreation.
The game consists in the fact that players hide caches with small treasures, determine the coordinates of the cache with the help of GPS, and publish information about the cache on the cataloging site. The remaining players find the caches, take something from the belongings themselves, leave something to the next players and register their discovery on the site.
Why do you need it? Geocaching is a great way to learn about the world. In Russia, it is customary to lay caches in places that are of geographical, historical, cultural interest. And the Russian cataloging site has become a catalog of interesting places in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus.
The American community of geokesherov also brings benefits. On the basis of geocaching, a parallel game emerged which consists in searching for geographical marks (points of reference) established throughout the country to facilitate surveying, cartography, and civil engineering. In the event of damage or relocation of such a label, the geokesher community will promptly notify the appropriate service.
It seems that the game is somehow too simple and uninteresting. In fact, it is not. The accuracy of determining the coordinates of the GPS-receiver varies up to 10 meters, so it turns out that having more or less accurate coordinates, the cache will still have to search. Often, to find out the exact coordinates, it is necessary to solve a riddle, to visit a certain place in order to collect data. In addition, geocaching is a great game for any geek, you will have the opportunity to breathe fresh air, travel and learn new places and at the same time you will have to constantly use your gadgets - GPS navigator or PDA :)
Geocaching = Social network + GPS + Fresh air!
