The developers of the Bangalore office of Google finalized the transliteration feature that
appeared a month ago on Google Translate , and now it is available as a separate service -
Google Transliteration . The service is aimed at users who have a keyboard based only on the Latin alphabet, but who need to type text in a language that uses non-Latin script.
Arabic, Greek, Persian, Russian, Serbian and a number of Indian languages (Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and Hindi) are now available.
The new service is also partially integrated into Gmail, Knol, Orkut, Blogger, is available as a bookmarklet and you can use the API.
