This note is written mainly for the systematization of my own thoughts: how
I analyze site traffic and what
I need for this. Therefore, it is published in a personal blog and can consciously ignore some or even many aspects.
The material will be written in parts, as the necessary functionality and possible ways of its implementation are comprehended.
So, a few general principles at the beginning:
1. I am only interested in data on
user behavior . All technical information, if it is not related to the peculiarities of the user's behavior, is indirectly connected with my (marketing) tasks.
2. Different users have different needs. I want to
segment users by behavior , level by level, classifying their actions.
3. Different segments of their behavior are for me different attractiveness - not always, but often I want to
compare them in some significant indicators.
4. I want to study the behavior of the user in the logic in which it develops. That is, to see not cuts, but logically related (for the user) and, therefore, explainable (for me)
sequence of actions.
5. All this is necessary so that I not only appreciate, but
change my interaction with the user.
Then, in its most general form, any session appears to me as the following sequence:
1. User came from somewhere.
2. The user did something, demonstrating some interest by his behavior.
3. This interest was either not satisfied.
4. At the same time, the user's interest coincided or did not coincide with my interest.
