The owners of
Popcorn Hour, a fairly popular hardware HD media player (whose concentration on Habré is probably higher than the average on the Internet, since the player is actually a full-fledged Linux machine), must have noticed that watching YouTube on it through a standard service Media Service Portal has become unavailable.
Not sure, but I suspect that a similar fate befell his domestic clones like BBK PopcornTV.
The manufacturer’s representatives (Syabas Technology) are
justified by the fact that YouTube has changed the terms of service (TOS, terms of service) by denying access to videos to all video sets (set-top boxes), with the exception of “several strategic partners of Google” .
However, according
to Engadget, according to Google, the situation was not quite so.
')
Popcorn Hour and the like initially used YouTube not quite according to the proposed TOS (Google’s statement used less streamlined wording “video scraping technology”), which ultimately led to legal claims and a ban on broadcasting video. “The companies that have signed agreements with us to use our APIs, such as TiVo, Sony, Panasonic and PS3, had no effect,” says Google.
Engadget also mentions that he does not know anyone other than Syabas who would be required to close the possibility of broadcasting video. And the latter argue that now Google refuses to enter into an agreement with them - apparently, the cup of patience is overflowing.
