Titan - a real humanoid robot from the future. He moves well, talks to people, sings and dances. Is "they" already here?
First, let's watch a video from one of the Titan's shows (Gitex Exhibition 2009 - Dubai) ')
Impressive, isn't it? But unfortunately the future has not yet come. Titan the Robot is actually a robotic suit. Its creator, Nik Fielding, made it in 2004.
Story Nick Fielding in his hometown Newquay is known to everyone as a “human robot” - he began making robot suits back in 1987 to try to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a giant robot. In 1998, he created the company Cyberstein. Fame came to Nick after he was invited to the popular TV show Big Breakfast with Johnny Vaughn. Millions of viewers who watched the program covered Nick with invitations to parties.
After just six months of execution, Nick has already spoken in the popular entertainment center of the Millennium Dome - he immediately won the hearts of viewers who saw the show.
In the Millennium Dome Nick meet Anton, who worked there at the time as a comedian. After the termination of the contract with the Millennium Dome, Nick and Anton decided to unite and together take Cyberstein to the next level. They set out to do more than just imitate the movements of a robot in a realistic costume — they wanted to do a real show.
So in 2004 appeared "Titan"
The result exceeded all expectations and today Titan is perhaps the most popular media robot.
Some popular questions to Cyberstain: Is there someone inside the robot? We cannot say this (however, there is a hint in the next question!)
How long can you stay in a suit? Our shows last about 35 minutes, we can do up to two shows in a row, and we still have enough for a short walk, then it will become harmful for our health.
How much does a suit weigh? The suit weighs about 47 kg.So yes, it is very heavy!
How much time do you spend between shows? We need at least an hour between shows to recharge the batteries of the robot and more importantly our own!
How much time is needed to prepare the show? Initial setup usually takes no more than 2 hours.
What are your requirements in the performance venue? Completely ready for work with the conveyor, the Titan weighs 350 kg, is 2.2 meters high and 1.5 meters wide.It is very good that there are doors in the room through which he can pass, and the floor that will withstand it.In addition, we need electricity to charge batteries and space for equipment, which we have a lot.
