UPDATE: Another test of the IT Challenge will be held tomorrow today, January 7 , according to the same schedule, which is indicated below. From innovations - it is not required to have a Live ID to take the test! If earlier it stopped you - take part in the test today!

Dear habrovchane! Surely many of you have heard about the student competitions of the Imagine Cup , held annually by Microsoft in several categories at once. Today I would like to tell you a little about the IT Challenge contest - the closest online test for which will be the other day, December 16, January 7 .

')
IT Challenge is a competition for IT-specialists and administrators, it is traditionally considered the most “fast” - at the first stage you will have to spend no more than an hour and answer online 30 questions on Microsoft products and technologies. To pass to the next stage, you must "successfully pass" at least one of the 4 tests, which will be held on November 16, December 16, January 7 and 30 during the day. Answering correctly more than half of the questions, you pass to the second round, in which you need to provide a description of the infrastructure that is optimal for the task. The six best participants on the results of 1-2 rounds are invited to the international final, where they compete in person within 24 hours.

The first test in November was attended by 630 participants from India , more than 50 from Poland, and only 36 people from Russia! The second time, there were already more than 250 participants from Russia, but all the same - several times less than from India. Do we really have few students who are interested in information technology and administration (on Microsoft technologies), and could be worthy of competition to foreign participants? Let's prove together that this is not so - all you have to do is spend no more than an hour of your time!

This time it will be held 8 times during the day, at the following time intervals:

So, how to take part in competitions :
  1. If you are not registered yet, register at www.imaginecup.com/Registration . If you are already registered, but have forgotten the password - use password recovery . If this does not work, register again.
  2. Specify in the profile that you want to participate in the IT Challenge (and, possibly, select other categories in which you would like to participate). If you have already registered before, go to your profile and indicate there the IT Challenge as one of the categories.
  3. To participate, you also need to specify personal information (address, telephone). If you do not want to specify a personal address and telephone number, please provide the details of the university or school. True, in this case, if we organize the draws among the participants, the prizes can be delivered to the wrong address :) but then you will be calm.
  4. If you did everything correctly, a red “ COMPETE ” button will appear on the page of the IT Challenge at the right time ( January 7 ) in the right pane. If it does not appear, you need to check whether you have filled in all the fields in paragraphs 1..3. If you have any problems - you can write to me on Twitter , I will help you figure it out.

After clicking, one page will appear with 30 questions that you can answer in any order. To go to the next stage, you must correctly answer 15 or more questions. I must say, the answers to most of the questions are on the Internet ( bing! ) - at the same time you will learn many new and interesting things about Microsoft products! Dmitry Adodin, a Microsoft student partner, describes the passage of the first stage in his blog . In particular, when passing the test it will be useful to know what Sharepoint is, as well as the main innovations in Exchange 2010, Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008.

Competition results will be available in about a day. If you failed to answer more than 15 questions from the first time - don’t be disheartened, such tests will be conducted once more, on January 30th . After that the second stage will begin, participants will be sent a customized task, which will require a more detailed response.

Good luck! Let's show that there are active students in Russia, despite the proximity of the session!
