When Google introduced personalized search
four years ago , it worked only for registered users who turned on the Web History option, but now Google is changing its behavior drastically. From now on, the personal search settings will be valid for all users, even after the end of the session (when you clicked “Sign out”) and even for those who have not yet created a Google Account. User identification is done via anonymous cookies.
This is the default for all users. If you do not want to see anonymous personalization, then you need to disable it in the
settings , or simply erase the cookie.
The search history for each anonymous Google user is maintained for 180 days (for a registered user, it will last until he deletes it). For more information on custom search and new rules, see the
official Google
blog .
